What backup types does pgBackRest support?

Full, differential, and incremental backups. The default schedule runs daily incremental (Mon-Sat at 03:00) and weekly full (Sunday at 02:00).

How does point-in-time recovery work?

PostgreSQL continuously archives WAL (Write-Ahead Log) segments to pgBackRest. You can restore to any timestamp within the retention window.

Is PgBouncer required?

No, PgBouncer is optional. The stack works fine with just PostgreSQL + pgBackRest. PgBouncer is recommended for applications with many concurrent connections.

Can I adjust backup retention?

Yes. Full backup retention, differential retention, and WAL archive retention days are all configurable via tool settings.
